Department of Applied Natural Sciences

Welcome to the pages of our department!

The range of studies in our department includes four bachelor and three master programs.

Seven study programs at the interface between natural and engineering sciences define the profile of our department. The modern range of studies is oriented towards the needs of the economy, while combining, especially for healthcare companies, technology and medicine with biomedical and economical focuses.

The varied range of studies in natural sciences covers the fields, which nowadays are relevant to all graduates. Chemistry, biotechnology, ophthalmic technology, quality management, process engineering, general physical technology, optics / laser systems or audiological acoustics are the new customized subjects, in which research and education is performed together with the industry. Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology are a unique feature at FHL and probably one-of-a-kind in Germany owing to the outstanding cooperation with the adjacent University of Lübeck. All bachelor programs integrate a vocational internship..

In some study programs, the students have the possibility to acquire various additional qualifications during the academic degree studies (special knowledge certificates for radiation protection according to x-ray and radiation protection ordinance, laser beam protection, immission protection, work safety as well as the certificate according to instructor qualification ordinance (AEVO)). The necessary lectures and practical trainings are partly integrated into the schedules.
